Louver Size: Which to Choose?
We offer three standard sizes of louver (the horizontal, movable slats), and each provides a different look. The 3 1/2 inch louver is the most popular but the 2 1/2 inch louver and 4 1/2 inch louver can be the perfect size too. The 2 1/2 inch louver offers the classic traditional look. The 3 1/2 inch louver is gorgeous in most any home and window size. The 4 1/2 inch louver offers a more dramatic look and is steadily growing in popularity. We also offer at an additional cost the 1 7/8 inch louver Plantation Shutter and the 1 1/4 inch louver Traditional Shutter.
Materials: Wood vs. Thermalite
Perfect Fit offers both Solid Wood and Solid PVC (Thermalite) shutters. They are priced the same and both will last for the life of your home. Perfect Fit’s Wood Shutters are made of Poplar and Basswood; all wood is sourced and milled in the U.S. We use the same supplier and quality components we have been using since we started manufacturing our own shutters. If you purchased your shutters from us 10 years ago and want to add more you can rest assured we make the same shutter and have not compromised anything in quality. You will probably even have the same installer and the same employees making your shutters! Perfect Fit’s Thermalite (PVC) Shutters are the best synthetic shutters available and the material is made in the U.S. They were designed to match our wood shutters but are waterproof for areas such as bathrooms and kitchen sink windows. Thermalite is made from high-density polymer foam, which is a solid, non-toxic material. This synthetic material can be cut, drilled and painted just like wood.
Panel Layout
This is another important decision we will assist you with. The most ordered is the traditional two panels per window. However, single panels per window are very popular and growing in popularity. We can do single panels up to 40” in width. Because of our construction/components you will find we have many more options with panel layout than most other shutters on the market. The more limitations a shutter has the less confidence the manufacturer has in its construction and parts.
Color
Every order of our Wood and Thermalite Shutters includes a custom paint match to your trim color at no charge. We also offer custom stain at an additional charge.
